So I wrote in.
Hello to whoever it may concern,
I do hope you take time to read it as I took time to recount this incident. And as a company who prides itself with the "Starbucks experience" I didn't feel that at all today.
On 24th October 2014, I visited your city square mall Starbucks branch.
I was there from 9am to 230pm until I was, for lack of a better term, chased out.
Firstly, I DO understand the motive behind approaching customers who are studying to not hog up tables: business is brisk, and you want more people to sit in and have a drink or more.
BUT, what I do not understand is the motive behind chasing away PAYING customers who are studying, and allowing NONPAYING customers to continue to stay.
I was there with a friend. We both ordered a drink- toffee nut latte if you're curious- and sat there doing our work.
Half way through the day(10am) , your barista was approaching people who are studying (aka with pen and paper in hand vigorously scribbling) to remind them to not stay for too long as he expects a crowd. This is completely understandable.
But there was no crowd, so I stayed.
Until around 2pm, there were slightly more customers. But then again the cafe wasn't even full. You still had around six tables left. I counted.
Your barista approached ALL the people studying. THEY WERE ALL PAYING CUSTOMERS. (And I must add, teenagers.) but the odd thing was he didn't approach the ADULTS sitting there all day, and he didn't approach non-paying patrons with laptops in front of them. They were not teens.
I may be a little oversensitive, but it was quite blatantly obvious that your barista got the teens to leave as we may be easier to persuade. But we are paying customers. And as he approached ME I haven't even finished my bagel and my friend just finished his pie (some curry thing).
I must add that your barista was not rude at all. He was customer service polite. But the fact that he wasn't fair in his treatment of customers irked me.
I do hope that I receive a reply with regards to the motive for such odd biased treatment.
With regards
Jaslyn

This is the non vulgar Jaslyn lololol
Ok but honestly though I feel so shortchanged. How come adults sitting there waiting for their friends can sit the whole hour but me with an unfinished bagel got approached to leave???
And I understand the whole concept of pay-and-you-stay. Unless they operate on a you're-a-teen-and-have-no-pennies-so-gtfo concept. *jackie chan meme*
I have to stress that I was no free loader and immediately after Brandon finished his drink we ordered some food because
a) we were genuinely hungry
b) we wanted to stay because of the nice ambience to do work.
Just because I'm a teen doesn't mean I'm a pushover
Ok whatever bye
